La Foret de Senart
A world of grand oaks and pines rising forth from the soil all working together to provide long lasting nourishment until trunk fall. This is a forest when the royal oaks dominate conquered from the time of the previous French royalty with forest lines still visible from this era.
As the sun rises over the horizon, golden rays extend gradually over the canopy tops, through the trunks and on the top soil as the forest warms from a dark slumber. As the sun rises, corvids can be heard across the forest welcoming the oaks to another day of warmth and stability. Herds of crows dominate patches pecking at the top soil in search for creatures underneath that can satisfy an appetite.
Dawn and dusk periods in this forest also give rise to the roe deer who shy away in the density of the stand. The probability of seeing a wild boar is low for they only know too well to stay away from the human kind. However they leave a trail from their daily wanderings of upturned soil, a delight for any corvid in search for an easy meal. However the wild boar also bring about other advantages for fungi where sniffling snouts keep the soil aerated and pliable.
This forest is a community of species from all kinds helping one another to see through to another day. There is a myth in the forest community that trees compete with each other for water and nutrients however the work of Suzanne Simard has put this to rest and has shown that trees very much work together between species but also between different species. Pine to Oak. Birch to Fir. They are all helping each other bring forward a new day. To survive in La Foret de Senart.
